The stability of the electricity grid and incentives for electricity users to change their behaviour is once again topical as we approach another Australian summer with the expectation of greater than ever demand.
However, load management has been a challenge for electricity networks for almost 150 years – dating back to 1888 when generator manufacturers in the UK led calls for an “off peak” load arrangement which would ensure stability and availability through adding other loads to balance out industrial consumption.
Buildings Alive’s CEO, Craig Roussac, recently published an article in The Fifth Estate which summarises some of the upcoming opportunities for commercial building owners and operators as major changes flow into the National Electricity Market in 2021. This piece, and a number of other pieces on the same topic are extracted from the “Flick the Switch” e-book.
